What this website is for

mqbone.app describes MQBone, and — when you sign in with Apple — shows your MQBone Home: a website garage where you can save a vehicle's VIN and a name, a read-only list of the activations on your account, and a viewer for reading one of your CSV logs back in the browser.

None of that grants, changes or restores a purchase, and the website garage is separate from the garage in the app. How each is stored is set out in the privacy notice.

There is no checkout on this website. Website payments are switched off, so nothing can be bought here, and the prices on the home page are planned prices for information only — not an offer to sell. If website payments are introduced, these terms will be updated first.

Purchases made through Apple

Where MQBone offers an in-app purchase, Apple takes the payment and Apple's own terms apply to that transaction.

• Refund requests for Apple charges go to Apple, through reportaproblem.apple.com, because Apple holds the payment.
• A purchase can be left pending — for example when Ask to Buy needs approval, or your bank asks for extra verification. Apple decides the outcome; if Apple approves it, the app completes the activation then.
• If Apple took the payment but the activation wasn't granted, the app's activation sheet offers Retry Confirmation, and Restore Purchases re-checks what Apple holds for your Apple Account. There is no restore button on this website. See purchases that don't finish.
• The prices and taxes Apple shows at the time of purchase are the ones that apply to it.

Come to us about a missing activation. If the purchase went through but the activation isn't working, email support@mqb.au with the address you purchased with, rather than paying a second time — that's our side to fix. Please don't send card numbers.

What a VIN activation covers

An activation is a one-time purchase for one vehicle, identified by its VIN. It is not a subscription and there is no recurring fee. For that vehicle's supported engine and gearbox controllers it covers:

• recording new datalogs to CSV; and
• the programming operations the app supports for those controllers.

Diagnostics, live data and viewing datalogs you already have don't need an activation. Each additional vehicle needs its own.

Activations are linked to your MQBone account rather than to a device, so they can be restored after a reinstall or on a new device. Data stored on your device isn't part of an activation and isn't restored with it.

Deleting your account removes the activations held on it, and they aren't automatically re-granted to a new account or a different Apple Account. Deletion isn't a refund. See deleting your account and the privacy notice — ask us first if you need an activation kept.

What an activation doesn't include

The OBD adapter

Separate hardware, bought separately. A generic Bluetooth OBD adapter isn't universally compatible.

Calibration files and tuning services

You supply the compatible files you flash, and tuning work is a separate service. Before you activate a VIN, confirm with your tuner — and with support@mqb.au if you need to — which files you'll have for your exact controller and what any tuning service costs.

Bench protocols

Bench support (MED17, MED9 and DSG through Scanmatik) is in development, is excluded from VIN activation, and is not available to buy. It is intended to be activated separately, per module.

Vehicle-specific results

An activation unlocks app functionality. It isn't a promise that a particular operation will succeed on a particular vehicle.

Compatibility comes first

MQBone works with the controllers and adapters it supports. The compatibility section lists the families it programs; your exact controller, its software version and your adapter decide what's available on your car.

Before buying anything, send us your vehicle and adapter details and we'll confirm what's supported. It's free and it takes one email.

Selling the car, or moving an activation

An activation is tied to a VIN. We can't promise that an activation can be moved to another vehicle or another person. Ask support@mqb.au before you sell the car or buy another activation.

Using the app on your vehicle

Diagnosing, logging and especially flashing affect a real vehicle. By using MQBone you accept that:

• you choose the files you flash and you are responsible for them, including whether they are legal, roadworthy and permitted where you live;
• modifying a vehicle can affect its emissions compliance, its insurance and its manufacturer warranty;
• you'll follow the safe flash preparation guidance, including stable power and an uninterrupted connection, and won't start an operation while driving or where stopping the vehicle would be unsafe; and
• flashing can fail and can leave a controller needing recovery. Check whether recovery is available for your controller family before you start.

Don't use the app to bypass activation, redistribute it, or resell access to it.

Availability and changes

MQBone is still in development, so features described on this site may change. Some operations need an internet connection so the app can check your account and activation before they start, and uninterrupted availability of those checks isn't promised.

If a check on this website fails, that's a website or service error: what you bought is recorded by your MQBone account and by Apple. If an activation still looks wrong after you check again, email support@mqb.au.

Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies the rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under any other consumer law that applies to you and can't be excluded by agreement. Those rights stand on their own: they aren't replaced by Apple's refund process, and Apple declining a refund doesn't remove them.

Changes

These terms describe how MQBone is sold and used today. If that changes, this page is updated and the change is noted in the release notes. See also the privacy notice.
